GLOBAL CITIES is an ongoing collaboration with Monica van der Haagen-Wulff (University of Cologne, Germany). We set out to examine a number of theoretical questions through performative investigations as well as through pedagogical means (a joint course offered to students at the University of Cologne with both a theoretical component as well as practical fieldwork). These questions include:

• Who owns or inhabits public space?

• Can any resistance or struggles over access to public space be observed?

• What role can art play in this process?
